Jamnagar (Gujarat): A programme of hymns and folk songs held for the cause of cow-protection in Jamnagar, Gujarat evoked an astounding response - raising a staggering Rs 4.5 crore.
The programme was held on Friday in Jamnagar district's Kalavad town where an audience of over 5,000 people gathered to listen to singer Kirtidan Gadhvi and left appreciating the singer by showering wads and wads of money.

deep-sea At the national conference on Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) held here over the weekend, officials from the World Bank and the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) expressed a ‘keen interest’ in this regard.

Marine national park will be hosting an aquatic life education camp at Narara island near Jamnagar.



Narara island is one of the 42 island that constitutes marine national park near Jamnagar, the park was open for public in 1982 and is spawn across 163 Sq. Km.

This education camp will benefit students from std 8, Narara island is the only island connected to Jamnagar by road, hence tourist can easily reach to this place. During low tide one can walk on the coral reef and observe the coral reef life like coral conchs, crabs, octopus, sponges, prawns, starfish etc.

15 different types of land grass and many types of sea weed can also be seen.

At present a students and teachers can enjoy a night stay and education program in Narara, Teachers / Students can enrol to this program by filling form from marine national park office in Jamnagar.

Jamnagar, Dhrol (Manoharsinh Jadeja) Rank in GPSC Class 1 and Class2 Exams

A development officer L I C of India has topped the Gujarat Civil Services class 1 and class 2 exams. The results were declared by Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) on Thursday. Manoharsinh Jadeja, 33, a native of Jambida village in Dhrol taluka of Jamnagar district, secured 735 marks in the final exam to achieve his feat.
Results top ten at the sixth position. The son of a retired sales tax officer Natvarsinh Jadeja, Manoharsinh, was always determined to join the ranks of a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) since the day he decided to appear for the public service exams. So much, he had successfully cleared the police sub-inspector and chief officers' competitive exams earlier but didn't join the forces, desire to become a DSP In the chief officers'

Cricketer Ranjitsinhji's Royal Antiques Recovered

Thieves who stole royal antiques of famous cricketer Jam Ranjit Sinhji from Jam Saheb Bunglow were caught yesterday. Surendranagar LCB and Rajkot RR cell arrested all five members of the loot gang. Several precious jewellery, gems, antiques and cash of around Rs 5 lakh has been recovered. All identified are from Porbandar / Jamnagar district, mostly lives in Surendra nagar. Surendranagar SP said that they were arrested during regular vehicle inspection on the Rajkot-Limbdi highway. Few stolen items were in the vehicle and rest at their place. The looters didn't knew what they had looted.

What is disturbing that this gang has been stealing regularly from the palace since seven - eight months and looted the palace almost 25 times, Current king and scion of Jamnagar Royal family and descendant of cricketing legend Jam Ranjitsinhji, Jam Saheb Shatrushailya will send an inventory list to police and then police will value the recovered booty.

* Four precious gems * An antique pearl necklace * Two gold chains
* Seven gold rings * A carpet woven with gold and silver threads
* 23 silver items including elephant ornaments, decanters, photo frames, lighter, tray, cigarette case, clock and silver spoons.

JAMNAGAR The city is known to be birds paradise, especially in the winter. However, in winter also comes the festival of Uttarayan, which brings along with it, the danger of razor-sharp manjas which pose a danger to these birds.

Jamnagar has become the first city to implement it. There are more than 327 species of birds found in and around Jamnagar, which includes both domestic and migratory birds. There are endangered species also which regularly visit Jamnagar. Furthermore, the city lake, situated in the middle of the city, becomes home to around 98 species of winged visitors during winter. The entire area turns into a bird watcher's paradise.

A bird lover who never misses to take a round of the lake. Another lover and expert on birds Jaypalsingh Jadeja said, "There are 98 species of birds one can spot at Lakhota lake. Wigeons, Mallard, Pin Tail, Gargani, Common Teal, Tefted Pochard, Common Pochard, Gadwa and many other migratory ducks, shovellers which fly in from Europe."

Tartear which is common for us but a rare bird to watch, Black-Necked Stark which is endangered species list and the bird like Great Crested Greebe, which is found round the year are also seen in Khijadiya bird sanctuary on the outskirts of the city. Sometimes they can be spotted on outer areas as well, where even Flamingos and White Pelicans can be spotted.

Jamnagar Fort museum attracting many tourists

A museum built in the middle of the Ranmal Lake in Lakhota Fort is attracting scores of visitors to Jamnagar

The Lakhota Museum displays a collection of old English and Portuguese firearms, weapons, sculptures, and artefacts that date back to the early 9th century AD.

"A lot of big cannons belonging to the British era are displayed here. Some of these date back 600 years. All these cannons reached this place from Portugal by sea,"

The museum's walls have a number of frescoes that depict the exploits of the area's rulers.

"There are some beautiful sculptures here that belong to the 18th century. Weapons are also displayed here,"

Some visitors feel that the youth should visit this museum as it displays distinctive facets of India's rich heritage.

A stone bridge links the palace to the town of Jamnagar.

The race was flagged off from the ‘Raksha Shakti Sthal’ at Lakhota Lake by Mayor Kanaksinh Jadeja and en, ded at the INS Valsura Sports Stadium.

Jamnagar Bank peon held for forgery

A Bank of India (BOI) peon working was nabbed in connection to a year-old fraud theft of Rs 3.25 lakh.
The arrest was made recently when police was intimated of forgery worth Rs 3.25 lakh from a local businessman account from Udyognagar branch. The forged signature plan was idea of the peon.
